About Remedy Spa
Remedy Spa is at the south end of Granville St. between Salter St. and Blowers St., directly across from the Metro Park parkade and near Mountain Equipment Co-op. Our Location is NOT at the north end of Granville near the Split Crow.
Please refer to this map for our exact location.
Yes, indeed we do! We are a fully licensed establishment with a full drink menu.
Unfortunately we cannot allow you to bring your own alcohol but we are fully licensed with a full drink menu for you to choose from. We can also special order a bottle for you (fees apply) if there is something specific you would like to have during your visit. We also have no problem allowing guests to bring their own food for their appointment or group bookings – we just ask that you respect the time allowed for your appointments and understand that your hands may be occupied during your service, depending on what you have booked.
We do not currently have a massage therapist on staff but offer body treatments that include a light massage, performed by our estheticians. This service is not therapeutic or covered by insurance.
We do not have any specific bachelorette packages but recommend the Facial Bar for larger groups as we can seat up to 15 people at once and it’s only 30$ (plus tax) per person. We can also accommodate manicures and pedicures for bachelorette parties as well. Depending on the size of the group, we may recommend quick hands or quick feet as opposed to full manicure/pedicures.
Please call to book any bachelorette party options well in advance, as it can be tricky to book larger groups.
Remedy Spa requires a credit card number upon booking groups of 3 or more to hold the space. No charge is made unless the booking is canceled with less than 72 hours notice.
We follow the latest and most effective disinfecting procedures for our implements here at Remedy and use Micrilium disinfectant. It is a hospital grade disinfectant that we soak our tools in after they have been properly sanitized. All surfaces are disinfected with a Micrilium surface disinfectant.
Remedy Spa disposes of all porous tools used during services (i.e. buffers and nail files). These will be offered to you at the end of your nail service and if you choose not to take them they will be thrown in the garbage.
If you have any further questions regarding disinfecting procedures our staff would be more than happy to answer them for you.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours we will charge 50% of your total service to your account to be paid upon your next visit. Please note we do require more notice for larger groups.
Of course you can! Dermalogica is the skin care line that we primarily work with and they have a beautiful sensitive skin line that even the most sensitive skins can use. Our estheticians love to help you combat your sensitivities and you will leave feeling better than ever!
Our 60 minute and 90 minute facials include extractions. We also offer a 30 minute mircozone treatment that is specific to extractions and is only $30.
We recommend having a facial every 6-8 weeks. If this doesn’t fit into your schedule or budget we recommend having a treatment 4 times a year at the change of each season to keep your skin healthy.
Our 60 minute facial includes a double cleansing, detailed skin analysis, exfoliation, extractions, massage, masque, serums, eye cream and moisturizer. During a 90 minute facial you will have all of the steps included during the 60 minute treatment but in the extra 30 minutes it allows for more extractions, massage and 2 treatment masques. Simply luxurious!
We do not recommend wearing makeup after you’ve had a treatment but if you would like a touch up so you don’t have to leave with a bare face we would be happy to do a quick application of our Jane Iredale mineral makeup as it is completely antimicrobial and does not harbor any bacteria, and will keep your skin glowing and clean after your treatment.
Manicures & Pedicures
Remedy Spa can do 4 manicures or pedicures at a time. Our Manicure/pedicure area has 4 very comfy lazy boy recliners. We can accommodate larger parties and have a lovely bar that others may sit at if your group is larger than 4 people. Our space is very open and you will never be too far from the rest of your group.
Our Quick services are only 30 minutes and our full manicure is 60 minutes. A full pedicure lasts 75 minutes. However, time isn’t the only difference: During Quick Hands you will have your nails filed for shape and buffed, you will also get a scrub, hot towels and polish. While in a full manicure you will also get cuticle work and a massage. For the Quick Feet you get a soak, nails filed for shape and buffed, scrub, hot towels and polish. The full pedicure does include all of this plus cuticle work, callus removal and massage.
We certainly do! We offer OPI gel, Artistic Gel Polish and Gelish Gel Polish as options for our shellac applications. Shellac is a $20 add-on to any nail service. We DO NOT offer shellac on its own as a service because we want your nails to look their best and your shellac to last as long as possible and this isn’t attainable without the timing to perform some work on the nails. Please ensure to inform whomever you speak to on the phone that you would like this done as it adds 15 minutes to your service. We also offer COMPLIMENTARY removal of your shellac IF you had it applied here at Remedy.
Unfortunately we do not offer Gel nails but we offer shellac as an add-on service to all nail services. This is a gel polish that cures in an LED lamp, which eliminates any drying time. It will last up to 14 days without chipping or smudging.
We can certainly do your child’s nails and recommend booking the Quick Hands or Quick Feet for children under 12, as it is unnecessary to remove the cuticles on children so young. For children under the age of 6 we are able to do a polish application if they are well behaved and willing to sit still.
Our Facial Bar
Part of the facial bar service includes a double cleansing of the face, during which we will remove your makeup.
Some clients do opt to work around their eyes so that they will still have their eye makeup on when the service is finished.
Comfortably 10 but we can fit up to 15 people at once.
You can wear whatever you like, but we wouldn’t recommend wearing a turtleneck or your nicest top. Because you will be doing all the steps yourself you may get product or water on your clothes. You can wear whatever jewelry you like but we ask to remove it all and place it at your station so product doesn’t get all over it.
With smaller groups (4 people or less) the facial bar can take 45-60 minutes. The larger the group, the longer we allow for time. Groups of 8 or more we usually allow for roughly 90 minutes or more.
We allow children over the age of 6 to take part in the facial bar service. We use our most gentle and calming products for children.
We primarily use Dermalogica skin care during our facial bars but we do incorporate some Farm House Fresh products that are organic and all natural!
We always leave this decision up to the client. All of our estheticians are comfortable performing your waxing services any time of the month but if you are not comfortable having your waxing done during this time we will reschedule your appointment for you. Please note that if you are comfortable having your waxing done that you may be more sensitive than usual.
One of estheticians is trained in this service and is available to take new clients. If you would like to book please give us a call. Please note that this service is NOT available on half price waxing Wednesday.
You must wait 48 hours after tanning to get waxed and you must wait 48 hours after waxing to tan. Otherwise you are susceptible to skin loss.
Generally, we suggest your hair needs to be 1/4 inch long (or the length of an eyelash) and recommend growing your hair for 2-3 weeks if you’ve never waxed before. Waiting 4-5 weeks between appointments ensures the most effective hair removal.
Waxing isn’t painless; we won’t lie. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain. Some people find waxing painless while others don’t share the same sentiment. You can take an Advil 30 minutes before your appointment if you’re concerned with pain. We do not recommend aspirin as it thins the blood.
If you are taking any of the following medications or have had any of the following services recently, you are not eligible for waxing:
- Accutane (Acne medication)
- Adapalene (Acne medication)
- Alustra (Retin A)
- Avage (Tazorac – Acne medication)
- Avita (type of Retin A)
- Differin (Acne medication)
- Isotretinoin (Accutane)
- Renova (Retin A)
- Tazarac (Acne medication)
- Tazarotene (like Tazorac)
- Tretinoin (like Retin A)
These medications may cause the skin to thin or to be extra sensitive to waxing. Thin, sensitive skin can lift with the wax. If you have taken Accutane within the last year it is not advised to wax for one year after you have stopped taking this medication.
If you are currently using any of the following products, they can cause the skin to be overly sensitive.
- ther Acne medications not listed above
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)
- Topical Antibiotics
- Salicylic Acid
- Exfoliants/Laser Peels/Microdermabrasion
Please note: We use a new stick EVERY time it is dipped into the pot. We DO NOT double dip and practice the most sanitary waxing practices possible.
Either is acceptable. If you are more comfortable wearing your bathing suit you certainly can, as you will be getting in and out of the shower.
Please note that some product may get on your suit if you do choose to wear one.
Even though a massage is part of this service, body treatments are not covered by insurance because they are performed by our estheticians, not a massage therapist.
Remedy Spa has two shower rooms we perform our body treatments in so why not book an appointment for a friend and yourself?
The scrub will be applied to your entire body only if you are comfortable. Our therapists will apply scrub, masque and massage cream to your legs, back, arms and declotte area.
Having the scrub and masque applied to your torso and buttocks is entirely optional and up to you.
Please be sure to inform the therapist if you feel uncomfortable with anything.
While we do not have a pregnancy table for these treatments, it is possible to do a modified version of the treatment so you do not have to lay flat on your stomach or back.
